Boss Babes
Mad Collection – This was the next big step for our shop and one we’ve been waiting for for months and dreaming of for years!
As we discussed how we were going to shoot this collection and where we were going to shoot it, it became very evident that we wanted to showcase the pieces on local boss babes who inspire us daily and have had an impact on our shop over the last ten years.
We feel so fortunate to have these women who made time to work with us on this campaign, and who continue to support, encourage and lift us up on the daily. We can’t help but share the love, and formally introduce each of these incredible boss babes to you here!

Meet Jenna and Ashley
Jenna Rae Cakes is a boutique bakery that opened in 2014 in Winnipeg. After watching an episode of Cake Boss in 2010, Jenna thought ‘I can do that!’ and began spending any free time she had pursuing cake design. Once Jenna started posting her cakes on Facebook, orders started rolling in and she knew she was onto something special.
In those early days Ashley was right by Jenna’s side helping her budding business look more polished with some initial branding, a website and lots of cheerleading. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as Ashley had just left her job at a local wedding magazine and together, the decision was made that it was time to see what they could create!
Ps… did you know they are launching a book in October?!? Congrats ladies!!

Meet Amanda
Coal and Canary was born over a glass of wine. Hailing from backgrounds heavily rooted in decor and design, best friends Tom Jansen and Amanda Buhse share a passion for quality artisan products that not only look good, but are expertly crafted.

Their candles reflect their vibrant personalities, commitment to strong design and appreciation for impeccable craftsmanship. Their goal is to provide design conscious individuals with a product that not only smells amazing, but looks just as good.
Coal and Canary candles are hand-poured in small batches and are made only with the highest quality soy and vegetable wax blend and true to scent fragrance oils. All of our candles feature a wide wooden wick that produces a soft crackle when lit.

Meet Dionne
I started Poppy Joy Pompoms out of a need to do something creative. I had been working at an insurance company, not making use of my BFA degree. I’m not sure exactly when I fell in love with pompoms, but I started making them for myself about 6 years ago. The first one was a monstrous garland I made for Christmas and left up in our living room for eleven months because I loved it so much. Then I made shorter ones, similar to the ones I currently make, for my daughter’s nursery.
About two and a half years ago, my husband encouraged me to start making pompoms for other people and to open a shop. At the time my daughter was almost two, I was a few weeks pregnant with my son, and oh so tired. I’m still tired! But, I’m so glad I took the leap to start PJP. I love what I’ve created, and I love sharing it with other people even more.
