Coffee Chic NYC Tour

Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m a lifestyle photographer here in Winnipeg as well as a Registered Nurse. This past September my boyfriend, Chris, and I went on a week vacation to New York City. I collaborated with Mad About Style to show you a few of the cute coffee shops that we visited while we explored The Big Apple.

Blue Bottle

Address: 150 Greenwich St. New York, NY 10007, USA

First stop is Blue Bottle Coffee Company.  They are an Oakland-based coffee roasting company with over a dozen locations spread throughout New York City; but the one we visited was on Greenwich Street (near One World Observatory and the 9/11 Memorial). We loved the vibe of this coffee shop. There was a mix of students studying/cramming for exams as well as tourists and local men in suits from the nearby Financial District. I had an Americano and Chris enjoyed his Mocha. Both were the perfect pick-me-up after we visited the beautiful and moving 9/11 Memorial.

One Girl Cookies

33 Main St, Brooklyn, NY 11201

One Girl is located in an area of Brooklyn known to the locals as DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass).  First of all, wow, we loved Brooklyn with its beautiful brownstones and slightly toned-down vibe compared to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. What was once a sketchy side of town is now home to art galleries, offices, trendy restaurants and high-end apartments. This is a must-visit with its neat cartoon map mural on the far wall, freshly-brewed coffee, and of course, their scrumptious one-bit cookies. I made sure to grab an iced late before we took a stroll down the cobble stone roads to Pebble Beach which has AMAZING views of Manhattan.

Feed

Address: 55 Waters St. Brooklyn NY, 11201 USA

Another neat café in Dumbo! Feed is located inside Empire Stores, a historic warehouse on Water Street that has been beautifully converted into office and retail space. This little coffee shop holds a very special place in our hearts because it is where we FaceTimed my parents to tell them that we got engaged!!!

Chris “popped the question” moments before on Pebble Beach overlooking the Manhattan skyline and we couldn’t wait to share the exciting news with our parents (after a quick caffeine fix of course). If you’re ever taking a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge make sure to stop in and enjoy their matcha latte or just a cup of their drip coffee (which Chris loved), plus check out the neat mailbags they have for sale.

Birch Coffee

750 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10025

Last stop is Birch Coffee. Located in the Upper West Side on 97th Street (just one block west of Central Park), this local gem was quite possibly my favourite coffee shop of the trip. It might have been the vintage tin ceiling, or maybe the cozy atmosphere, or maybe it was the delicious Americano, but something had me loving the feel of this local coffee shop. Birch very much had the feeling of a local favourite hangout as it was full of locals and had the right mixture of strong coffee, comfortable atmosphere, and big windows (great for providing lighting for that instagramable coffee shot).
